Drove out to Lee Summit to check this one out. When you place the truck into reverse it would make a loud grinding noise but when you place it into drive it would engage but barely move.
The owner had the truck towed to the shop. Once I placed it on the lift I realize the noise was coming from the front differential. It was damage and not the transmission.
The customer explain that he had a shop look at it and they said the transmission needed to be replaced and it would cost him $4500
Symptoms;
NO reverse, loud grinding noise, slow to engage in drive
Issue;
front differential was bad
Solution;
replaced front differential
